Short answer: Nasal strips sit across the bridge of your nose and lift the sides to open the nasal passages. Mouth tape holds your lips gently closed so you breathe through your nose while you sleep. Choose strips if your nose feels blocked at night. Choose tape if your mouth falls open. Many people use both. The SLO Nightly Duo pairs them for $49, a $9 saving on buying each separately.
How do nasal strips work?
A nasal strip is a flexible, spring-like band with an adhesive backing. You place it across the bridge of your nose. As the band tries to straighten, it lifts the sides of your nose outward and opens the nasal passages.
In 70 adults with night-time nasal congestion, people said they breathed more easily and slept better with a strip (Wheatley 2019). In 30 habitual snorers, a strip reduced peak snoring loudness and the number of loud snores (Todorova 1998).
How does mouth tape work?
Mouth tape is a soft, low-profile strip you place over closed lips at bedtime. It keeps your mouth closed so you breathe through your nose.
In a small study of 20 mouth-breathers with mild sleep apnoea, snoring fell after a week of taping (Lee 2022).
Only use mouth tape if you can breathe comfortably through your nose. New to it? Read how to use mouth tape before your first night.

Why choose SLO strips and tape?
- Latex-free adhesive on both. The strips are soft non-woven fabric over a flexible support strip. The tape is PE film and cotton with an easy-peel backing.
- Discreet. A skin-tone, low-profile finish.
- Value as a pair. The Nightly Duo is $49 for both, against $58 bought separately.
- 30-Night Sleep Easy Promise. If they aren't part of your routine, email us within 30 nights of them arriving and we'll organise a refund or a replacement. You don't need to post used strips or tape back. Some brands only refund a first order, or only if most of the pack is unused.
- Australian owned and designed in Australia.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use mouth tape and nasal strips together?
Yes, many people do, as part of the same nightly routine. Put the strip on first, check you can breathe comfortably through your nose, then apply the tape.
Do I need a new strip or piece of tape every night?
Yes. Each one is single use. A pack of 30 is a month.
Will it hurt to take off?
Peel slowly from one corner. If you have facial hair, peel tape in the direction the hair grows. See how to apply nasal strips.
Should I see a doctor about snoring?
We're not doctors. If you snore loudly, gasp, or stop breathing in your sleep, see your GP.
