About Peter and Amanda

Short answer: SLO Sleep is an Australian owned business run by Peter and Amanda. Peter is a sport scientist who researches sleep, travel and jet lag. Together they write the SLO sleep guides.

Who is Peter?

Dr Peter Fowler holds a PhD and has spent his career in sport science, working on how athletes sleep, travel and recover.

His published research looks at what long flights and time zone changes do to sleep, jet lag and performance. He has studied professional soccer, rugby league and rugby sevens players, junior netball, wheelchair basketball and endurance athletes.

In 2021 Peter was one of 26 experts on a panel on travel and jet lag in athletes. Their consensus statement was published in Sports Medicine. He is the third author.

He has worked in elite sport with the Australian Institute of Sport, McLaren F1 and Tottenham Hotspur.

Who is Amanda?

Amanda is Peter's partner. She co-runs SLO with him. Together they also run The Recovery Project and Ace Sporting Goods, two other Australian businesses.

Why did they start SLO?

Sleep essentials were either cheap and throwaway, or clinical. Peter and Amanda wanted a small range of well-made sleep essentials you'd be happy to keep on your bedside table and pack in your bag. SLO is designed in Australia and Australian owned.
