Hotel curtains never quite meet in the middle. There is always a gap, and there is always a streetlight lined up with it.
You cannot control the room. You can control what you bring.
The two things worth the space
A mask and a set of ear plugs take up almost nothing and address the two variables you have no say over: light and noise.
Our Sleep Mask is contoured, so it sits off the eyes rather than pressing against them, and it blocks light without the gap most flat masks leave along the nose. On a plane, where the cabin lights come up two hours before you want them to, that is the difference between the mask being useful and being decorative.
The Sleep Ear Plugs are soft silicone and come in several sizes, which matters more than it sounds. An ear plug that does not fit is an ear plug you take out at 2am.
Why we made a tin
Small things disappear in luggage. Ear plugs particularly.
The Travel Tin is a hard case that holds the small items together so they are findable, and so they are not loose at the bottom of a bag getting crushed. It also keeps the consumables out of the heat, which matters more than most people expect. Adhesive does not enjoy a car boot in February.
It is the least glamorous thing we make and one of the most used.
Why we made a pouch
The tin handles the small items. The pouch handles the rest.
Ribbed corduroy, zipped, sized to hold the mask without folding it. Keeping the mask in something rigid enough to protect its shape is the single best thing you can do for how long it lasts.
Packed together, the whole kit is smaller than a paperback.
The thing that actually matters
The reason to travel with your own kit is not really the kit. It is that unfamiliar rooms feel less unfamiliar when something in them is yours.
That is the entire argument for owning nice versions of small things. You use them constantly, you take them everywhere, and they cost very little to get right.
If you are packing for a flight
Keep the tin and the pouch in your carry-on rather than checked luggage. Both are small enough that this costs you nothing, and a sleep kit in the hold is a sleep kit you cannot reach when you need it.
